Letters from Great Customers“I stumbled across your method while searching the net for information about how much protein my wife (a salt sensitive red/white meat vegan) requires. I browsed the… web site and ordered…. I read it cover to cover and designed a diet plan my wife and I could handle with ease. In 7-1/2 months, I'm down 48 pounds and reduced my total cholesterol from 228 to 143, and my doctor couldn't believe the results from the blood work! She told me she'd never seen anything like it. My wife's down too (can't say how much because she'll be angry). I turned my mom onto the plan and she's down 20. Two co-workers are down as well. I'm exercising regularly now, and feeling so much better because I know how to eat for health and pleasure. Diet, as in "what we eat," not as in "misery" and restricted intake. I can't thank you enough for publishing this material, and I truly wish your method were more visible in the mainstream press. This method should be on NPR and Good Morning shows and Oprah and in all the magazines. Simple practice based on sound nutritional science. How wonderful. You changed my life. You changed the lives of my family. Thank you so much.” --Mark Carter
“I changed my eating habits 51 days ago…. I started my first week just recording everything I ate. I was astounded to find out I was eating over 4000 calories per day. A typical day would be toast, cereal, and juice for breakfast. Sounds nutritious until you find out that you are eating 3 cups (not 1) of cereal. Breakfast was about 1200 calories. Lunch would be Burger, Fries, diet Coke. Or some other fast food equivalent. With today’s "Super" sizes that adds another 1200 calories for lunch. So now at 2400 calories for Breakfast and Lunch I would come home and "want something" when I got home. So raiding the cookie jar for about 6-8 cookies and a glass of milk (an after school habit) I would sit down and consume another 480 calories of cookies and 100 calories of milk. At 3000 calories I would either have a not so healthy dinner with large portions or a night out at a fast food restaurant or pizza joint. Easily another 1000 calories... I was 29 years old, 242 pounds, 5' 11", and I just had a new baby boy. It was time for a change. I am also diabetic and insulin dependant (taking too much insulin to accommodate all my food). I started off… eating English walnuts for my EFAs, and yogurt for my potassium, and taking a multi-vitamin. After about 2 weeks I noticed that I was no longer "hungry" between meals. I had even started to curb my portions down at dinnertime. I had replaced my breakfast with either the yogurt and walnuts, or 1 cup of Kellogg’s Smart Start. I lost 6 pounds in the first 2 weeks. I was consuming only 2500 Calories per day now. Diet Power calculated that my body would consume 3000 Calories per day, without exercising. At week 3 I added 5 days of exercise at the local YMCA to my plan…. My goal is 175 pounds, and I should be there by September. I now consume between 1200-1500 calories per day (after subtracting calories burned at the Y). I can’t eat a full restaurant portion any more…. --Jason Stevenson It is working!!! I've been on the diet 9 days and lost 4 lbs. Love the diet! After doing Atkins for a month with not much to show, you can imagine how happy I was to be able to eat real food again and lose weight. Just had the All American Chili for lunch. Gave some to my S.O. and he liked it so much that he said I should make it all the time. Love the tuna salad too on Diet two. What a great diet (#2) for me when I work. Milk shake while I am getting ready to go to work and I take the tuna salad with me for lunch. Then when I get home, supper is so easy. I took your advice and I am using low fat powdered milk in my coffee and it tastes great. I found that drinking tea, I use even less powered milk and save those calories and let me tell you, there are plenty of yummy teas on the market. I also love the charts that go with the diet so that you know what you're getting, minerals, vitamins, fats and such. All in all I am very happy that you did this. It all makes sense. Sincerely, Susan Dulin
“Things are progressing nicely on this diet. I haven't been exceptionally hungry, and do not think too much about food these days. The walnuts seem to be the answer to the EFA's...much easier than the oils! I put them in my cereal at breakfast and they are really good.” --Gigi
“… since Oct 1st, 2001, and have lost all the weight I needed and wanted to lose, approximately 10 pounds. Ten pounds does not sound like much but I am a small boned woman and we all know how tough it is to get rid of the last few pounds. I followed the diet precisely. I feel great.” --Susan McDonald (4/30/2002)
“I got my book…, am enjoying it tremendously and putting it to good use. Up 'til now, I've been using the Weight Watchers point system on-line, but found it too simplified w/ not enough guidance about "beast" taming... was hungry all the time (& crabby and no fun to be around!). I'm LOVING working with your guidelines, finding myself in a better mood & not cheating as often.” --Celia Schaeffer
