BW: The threshold theory is so new that even lots of doctors have never heard of it. Who developed it? AAA: Let's say the concept was developed by some very high-level thinkers who kept
it to themselves until they could find a sucker (who turned out to be me Actually I'm happy to do it, because once the critics get over their inevitable outrage over this new (and therefore "awful") concept, the theory will make a major difference in the world. BW: But there are dozens of weight loss books on the market. Very few people have had much success with any of them. Why should anyone believe yours is any different? AAA: That was one of the first questions I asked myself after my mentors suggested I become more involved with the project. After decades (really centuries) of failure to understand or solve the problem of weight gain - together with hundreds of books and techniques that just don't work very well - and the inevitable cynicism resulting from this, how is "little ole me" ever gonna manage to rise above all the useless noise and the justifiable skepticism most people have? But as I said, the need is huge. There are 97 million overweight Americans and probably another 300-400 million overweight people worldwide. I'm talking about people with a Body Mass Index over 25 - which means their health is being adversely affected by their weight. Brainstorming this, my mentors, publishers, and I decided the quickest way to get people to take a look at these new ideas would be to give them away for free on the Internet. That almost automatically gets them in front of a lot of the most intelligent, "early-adopter" type people on the planet. And computer-literate people's waistlines are spreading as fast as everyone else's. So we planned to do it that way right from the beginning. I guess the real answer to your question is that people don't have to believe anything. They just have to download an electronic book, try it, and decide if they like the technique or not. |
