Below is an excerpt from Part One of

The 2004 Multi-Diet

by Anderson A. Anonymous, M.D., Ph.D.

Dangers of The Multi-Diet

Anything powerful enough to be effective
is also powerful enough to be dangerous…
…in the hands of a fool or a knave.

Unknown

It is unfortunate that there are inevitably a few people who will ignore all warnings and injure themselves. Please do not be one of them! The Multi-Diet is a powerful technique, but like other powerful techniques it can be dangerous if done thoughtlessly. In other words, you can lose serious amounts of weight effectively and safely on the Multi-Diet, but not if you let your brain go to sleep while you’re doing it. Just as when driving a car, you need to pay attention to what’s happening in order to get anywhere safely.

There are several safeguards that you should observe on the Multi-Diet.

Before doing The Multi-Diet for more than a short time, please read the information in Part Two. This information greatly reduces the chances of making a serious mistake.

Make your doctor aware of what you plan to do and heed his or her advice.

It is very easy to take too much or too little of the macrominerals as supplements. Do not do either! Potassium is particularly dangerous if mishandled in this way. When you are restricting food you can easily get too little of the macrominerals without realizing it. When you supplement minerals to make up for this, you can take too much without realizing it. Too little or too much for a few days is not likely to be a problem. Too little or too much for more than a few days can be dangerous.

As a rule-of-thumb please stop The Multi-Diet at least every few weeks or so and eat “normally” for a day or two. You may not want to stop because by then you’ll probably feel that you can “do it forever”. But stop anyway. Medical science has not yet learned everything there is to know about nutrition. It is wise to go off the Multi-Diet periodically for a day or two to give your body a chance to “rebalance” anything that science does not yet understand. Of course, you may find yourself eating more food when you do this (and some of it may even be “junk” food). But if you’ve really mastered the Eight Vital Factors, you’ll find that you don’t really eat all that much more. Your weight loss may stop. But by then you’ll understand that going off the Multi-Diet and back on it again does not require much of an effort---so you’ll realize you have plenty of time. (Note that this is not the same as “yo-yo dieting” which is a completely different phenomenon.)

If you begin to have a vague feeling that something’s wrong, you’re probably right. New “sensations” in various parts of your body are one possible sign of this. Their cause could be many things, most of them having nothing to do with the Multi-Diet. But don’t just try to “diet harder” or “push through it”. First try to figure out what may be wrong. Make sure you’re really getting all the nutrients you need to tame The Beast. Use food composition tables to make sure that your favorite foods aren’t giving you much more or much less of some nutrient than you know about. Visit your doctor and have your mineral status (and other things) checked. If nothing else works, stop the Multi-Diet, at least for a while, and see what happens.

Please take these warnings seriously. I have tried in other parts of this book to use humor and to be entertaining, but I am deadly serious in this section. The Multi-Diet is a powerful technique. Please don’t use it to hurt yourself.
